dhimmi I need help with a translation if you dont mindReader comment on item: Salman Rushdie and British Backbone Submitted by Simon (United States), Aug 21, 2007 at 09:46 Dhimmi I need your assistance on translation if you don't mind. In the past Jan 17 2007 you said My dear Mo, here is your lesson for the day about Islam and suicide. The Qur'an is silent about suicide. Even in Q4:29 it says: "and do not kill _yourselves_" The word yourselves or anfasakum was read in the Muslim masora as: do not kill one another. So the Qur'an is not much help here. Than someone wrote this Than we have this verse I can't translated I guess Q 40:51 but I said what you said that anfasakan means do not kill one another and here was the response I got back "If you had someone translate the aya for you (butchered the translation by the way), how do you know with such authority what anfusakum means? What does the singular nafs mean, Does it mean self? Or does it mean soul. Lucky for you, the Muslim position on suicide is one I have looked into a great deal in the context of the debates on euthanasia. How you (or your ghostwriter) decide to translate the word anfusakum does not refute the consensus among scholars on this issue. Suicide is haram and there is no controversy there. Can you help me with the above remark in quotes and translate that Arabic writing for me and your response of the remark as well? Thanks dhimmi.
