There is no known military base close to South Asia. A foot print in south Asia is very much desired (Ask your Company - CIA, as to why they think it's important). The Afghanistan fiasco was a perfect situation to put up a base in southern Asia and Pakistan provided the place for this camp. How else would a nation known for holding terrorist camps be on the Most Favored Nation list?? While there are economic and other sanctions against almost every other country in the region? Obviously, they wouldn't want to call anyone from that country terrorist or otherwise. Go Figure it out...
