This is a good and very relevant point - but one which is not followed up very much. As you say, rather than focusing on the true goal of existence - which is enlightenment and connecting with the Self - Muslims have an eschatology which just reinforces their egos and as you say is really nothing more than cheap thrills which appeal to base of human instincts. There is no grace or anything truly inspirational or transcendental.

They must find it extremely frustrating - and no doubt this frustration is the root cause of their anger and hostility to everyone else.
