For Saigon and Nari on HindusReader comment on item: Still Asleep After Mumbai Submitted by Peter Herz (United States), Dec 15, 2008 at 15:04 I condemn the persecution of Indian Christians in Orissa and the eastern states as much as anyone, but I would not knock the Hindus as cowards. India won two clear-cut victories over Pakistan in my lifetime, one of which resulted in the severing of Pakisstan's eastern wing (now Bangladesh). Surely the jawans who fought those wars were not all Christians and Sikhs! As a Christian, I hold no candle for Hinduism. However, Hindus have a very diverse range of expression, running from the missionary-burners and Shiv Sena types to others who are willing to respect others. Further, the sectarian and scriptural variations in Hinduism are far more bewildering than those in any other religion. Indeed, "Hindu" is perhaps a catch-all term to cover all the various cults present among Aryan and Aryanized people of the south Asian subcontinent prior to the rise of Buddhism and Jainism.
