Political Correctness!Reader comment on item: Still Asleep After Mumbai Submitted by Jim Wright (United States), Dec 10, 2008 at 16:26 Shortly after 9/11 I downloaded the Koran and some of Mohamad's writings and studied what a good Muslim was to do in conducting their Jihad. The instruction are very explicit and include one of many which states clearly that lying, which is normally sinful for a good Muslim, may be used in their Jihad as a weapon, where useful. It was very clear, early on, that we were approaching the War with a fundamental mis-assumption, that our enemy was simply a "radical terrorist", on his own, intending to win points with Allah. Not so! Our Enemy is the whole of the Islamic religion and all of the leaders of Islam in all of the Muslim nations in the entire World! We can never win by fighting the "radical terrorist", no more than we could win in Viet Nam or Korea by simply defending against their field forces, holding back because we feared having the Chinese and Russians join in. The second problem is that our Leaders, civilian and military, have not placed any importance on the OK placed on the use of lying as a weapon. Nothing we are told can be accepted as truth! That applies in the field and on the home front, where there are Muslim communities. Every good Muslim is engaged in his own personal Jihad, not simply against the temptations of the spirit but against the Enemy, meaning the people of the USA, or the UK, or India, or where-ever. If they can fool us on civilian front while pre-occupying us in the field, given time and they'll be able to out-vote us in that their birth-rate is far higher than ours. A most clever strategy! For us to fight simply by killing their soldiers, or such civilians as may get in the way, will not do the job, even if we kill ten for one. We are killing Indians when we should be killing Chiefs, both Civilian and Religious leaders, those who are promoting and paying for their field folk, such a Osama bin Laden and his Generals and Capitans and Non-coms. And with a massive retalitory blow for every attack they make on us, aimed at their Leaders! And, without pre-discussion or exception! Sooner or later they'd get the idea, I'm sure. Daniel, your letter shows a real awakening on your part, over your letters back in '01 and '02. Crank in this approach to bringing things to a stop. I'm sure it would still work. And maybe even awaken some of our present lethargic leaders.??? Jim Wright Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
