Hindu civilisation was the only one that stemmed the tide. When islam entered Asia, civilisation after civilisation fell. Babylon, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Syria and Spain.

While the approach was not the optimum one, Hindus fought back and never resisted fighting islam. In Kabul - Hindushai Afghans in Kabul fought Ghaznavids for close to a century.The Gakkads, the Rajputs, Sikhs, the Jats, the Marathas, Hindus have always resisted islam.

In fact Hindus created the Sikh confederacy to defeat islam in Punjab. In fact but for British help, what is pakistan would probably not have seen the light of the day. Muslims hate Sikha Shahi (rule of Sikhs) who ruled most of west punjab and where Rasulgarh was changed to Ramgarh. Islam indeed was tamed by Sikhs in Punjab, Dogras in Kashmir and Marathas in Central India.

While it is true that Hindus did not carry the fight to the enemy camp, they did hold islam in check.

This thread has nothing to do with Orissa. Nevertheless since you have brought this up, let me make the Hindu position clear.

Church - both catholic and evangelical has launched a massive conversion offensive in India. Deceit, lies, charlatanism, snakeoil sales pitch, all remain tools. You may check you tube.

Church, islam and communism have not hesitated to ally and to use violence to tame native Indian Hindu civilisation. In orissa not many are aware that a Hindu saint was brutally shot by christian maoists triggering violence.

And your theory that Hindu is just Aryan belief is false one and one concocted by British to divide Hindus. The Phallic symbol as a creative power, the dancing girl, the Big Bull, the Saint, Music these remain enduring dynamic symbols of Hindu civilisation.

Hindu Civilisation is an ally in this fight against totalitarian forces. Prescient Harvard sage Samuel Huntington hypothesised "Hindu Indian civilisation and western civilisation (post church) are natural allies against totalitarian evils - red communists, islamists and churchists".

Hindu Civilisation is similar to the Graeco Roman Egyptian one with progressive and tolerant values which were extinguished by what are totalitarian ideologies of church and islam. Church was cut down to size in the West what historians call Renaissance. Islam has not seen this transition. World is better off curbing totalitarian ideologies even if they wear the mask of religion.

MESSAGE FOR WESTERNERS. Islamic terrorists have used India for their dry runs before carrying out their attacks in the west. Sept 11 attacks in the US were preceded by attacks in Mumbai in early 90s and by subsequent hijacking of Indian Airlines Delhi flight. So while the message has high probability of being ignored by politicians with warped vote bank mind, Western Intelligence has to be careful and anticipate the worst.
