THE MORAL OF THE STORY--called QuranReader comment on item: Still Asleep After Mumbai Submitted by raja believer (India), Dec 23, 2008 at 03:46 Mr. Bayezid, While the earlier belief systems talk extensively about union or merger of individual self with the supreme being by absolute surrender of the ego and attaining ONENESS with the supreme reality, as the ultimate goal of human existence, how is Quran, which you claim, is the culmination of all earlier belief systems, rewards its followers with lowly materialistic pleasures like women, wine, farmlands etc. which are described in mindboggling minute micro finesse, which even muslims shun and shudder to discuss-- Can you or any of the islamic experts authoritatively confirm that the kind of eternal sensual pleasures that are promised are superior to the bliss that an individual attains on liberation by following time tested methods of other religions. Instead of giving your version, you took a dig at my moral science teacher that I was not taught morals, which is your indirect acceptance that any talk about theses verses of Quran is less moral & taboo and admission that there are areas in Quran which are to be swept under the carpet. Don't you think that these verses represent the beastly life and depraved aspirations of 7th century pervert, sex hungry desert marauders of Saudi Arabia, who were dangled this carrot to join the jehad. Do you want more direct evidence. I next asked you how is the world any better after Islam's entry or was it any worse earlier? Mr. Bayezid said You know modern medicine has extracts of almost all the animals you can imagine. So we all already have a lot of swine and dog and what not in us. Just a suggestion. Why don't you and our muslim bretheren keep eating Black Cumin seeds & Figs which Prophet said is a cure for all diseases except death. Mr. Bayezid said: Why do you contradict yourself so directly. If Quran is directly from God then who is Muhamad. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
