nervous laughterReader comment on item: Still Asleep After Mumbai Submitted by the Grand Infidel of Kaffiristan (Australia), Dec 19, 2008 at 20:17 Mr. Bayezid ,his fragile ego hurt at criticism of Islam, responds: " despite your crass efforts at deluding yourself," "i like it how you find a way around issues and pick a topic of your choosing to base your allegations and claims upon." "why would people read it? ill tell you why. people read the al quran for guidance. when they know their limits and know their place, they start taking instructions from GOD. a very natural behaviour indeed. unlike yours , where an individual sticks to a deluded conception where only the ego is god." Again - an ad hominem attack. Typical. You think that Islam and God are synonymous. They are not. You consider any criticism of what you believe to be an attack on God. It is not. God is truth. Islam is has so many faults - possibly impossible for you to see from your cultural perspective. Yet you still wish to cling to it - and insist that it is some sort of supreme revaelation. It is not. People of other beliefs (and those with none) often laugh at you (Islamists) . Not because they are deluded - but because your attitude is narcisstic and childish. Like kids in kindergarten saying 'do what we want, believe what we believe - or we'll trash the school'. "ill try not to laugh so hard." You're not laughing - you're offended and trying to attack in response. "you sound even more ridiculous when you compare tolkiens work to quran. " only to you and your co-religionists.. " whereas tolkien writes a beautiful story with a moral, " I agree - and that was my point "....the quran is a set of messages from GOD." It was written by human beings - who plagiarised it from the scriptures of surrounding countries - east and west. "....quran is not a literary work....." yes - you're 100% correct "....it is a message." but let's face it, based it's results - it's not really a very good message is it? "and i dont think youve read lord of the rings too well, becuse if you had, youd notice that the story enshrines values much akin to what is preached by religious scriptures worldwide. " I don't think you've understood why I brought up Tolkien as an example - because that was exactly my point. That a western author created in a few years a finely crafted and coherent piece of work that espoused universal moral values. "the focal point of tht story is that ring made by sauron to entice people in his way as it inspires greed and selfishness. such is the nature of too much power. it corrupts. no matter how wise you are, you have a limit. isnt that why gandalf never put on that ring ? finally it had to destroyed. o the moral is basically power corrupts and know your place. because ERU watches all. thats right. you can close your jaws now. tolkien had a concept of god in his stories similar to what people in may cultures believe. " So now you're lecturing us on Tolkien? I think anyone who has read the trilogy easily picks up the moral lessons - you are stating the obvious as though it is some incredible revealtion. "unlike the braindead fantasy literature of our time, tolkien mentioned the truth about ancient monotheism in his books. if u read the hobbit or the silmarillion youd know. written by tolkien ." I agree. "and finally, the fact that you should know about is, tolkien wanted to create a fantasy parallel based on the events that took place during the time of the prophets when they were struggling to spread GOD's word to a dark world. he said so himself in his letters." If you read it more carefully he based it on Christianity - not Islam. That was Tolkien's cultural background. see http://www.godweb.org/lordoftherings.htm
