The enemy is Islam itselfReader comment on item: Still Asleep After Mumbai Submitted by Carl Goldberg (United States), Dec 11, 2008 at 01:41 Progessor Eidelberg is right. Islam, itself, is the enemy because the basis of Islam is the Koran and the Koran is full of exhortations to strive against non-Moslems. There may be "moderate Moslems", but there is no such thing as "moderate Islam". To the extent that Moslems are truly moderate in their behavior, then to that extent they deviate from the requirements of the Koran and the Hadith which will always produce new recruits for jihad. You cannot take Islam out of Islamic terrorism; you can't take Islam out of Islamism or out of Islamic imperialism or out of "political Islam" or out of Islamic terrorism. Jihad against non-Moslems is preached and taught wherever the Koran and the Hadith are preached and taught, that is, in every mosque and Islamic school in the world. We must start naming the enemy in order to deal with it. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
