Kahan: With 400 verses out of 114 talking of Allah's torment of unbelievers what is the totality of the sense you get of the Koran.

You seem to forget that the Koran was revealed in bits and pieces over 23 years. How did those who listened to Muhammad understand the Koran when there was not much of it?

Why are Muslims so scared of individual surahs and verses of the Koran?

That can be said of any book. A Nazi reading Mein Kampf will tell you the same thing. If you have understood the true message of the Koran tell us how you interpret verses 9:29 and 9:111 in the light of the totality of its message.

Yes the Koran is a miracle. It has helped killers to calm their conscience when they go on their murderous sprees. When their INTENTION is to go out and kill they read a verse like: 009.052 and think that is Islam (YUSUFALI: Say: "Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things- (Martyrdom or victory)? But we can expect for you either that Allah will send his punishment from Himself, or by our hands. So wait (expectant); we too will wait with you.")

The less violent Muslim reads a verse like: 10:99 and thinks that is true Islam. (YUSUFALI: If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!)

One size fits all. A true miracle from Allah.
