We had the Chinese and North Koreans by the throat and then agreed to the compromise they wanted when they saw they were losing. We didn't bury anything there. We gave the monster time to regenerate itself, and so it has.

Don't think Russia has been buried either. They are as strong and ruthless as ever. Dumping all those Soviet Union states allowed them to concentrate on re-building their military.
