China and IslamicTerrorismReader comment on item: Still Asleep After Mumbai Submitted by Peter Herz (United States), Dec 14, 2008 at 13:50 Actually, my hat's off to China. From Nixon and Henry Most-overrated-man-ever-to-pass-through-both-Harvard-and-Washington Kissinger down to the present, official America has been crowing about what a valuable asset Beijing has been to both the Cold War and the War on Terror. But China let America bear the brunt of the winding down of the Cold War, and it is probably pleased as punch to have a cause that its own disaffected Muslims can flock to and make US soldiers bleed in Afghanistan rather than having Chinese soldiers bleed in Sharki Turkistan (aka Xinjiang). They say the right things for the right audience, but relentlessly pursue their own national interest. I say that in response to China's response to the Jamaat ud-Dawah, we take the East Turkistan Islamic Front off the terrorist organization list. It would be a symbolic tit for tat.
