Dr. N.Ali writes
"..... I am not surprised at what you have written especially about the "Western educated Muslim doctor suicide bomber". I already expected this response, and I am ready to clarify a few things."
and you would have realised I had a huge number of examples to choose from.
"...... First of all, I am sad and sorry to say that some doctors have indeed been involved in such incidences. I hope you have heard about a GP (Harold Shipman) from the UK. According to Wikipedia, "He is the most prolific known serial killer in history with 236 murders being ascribed to him, though the real number may be much higher, perhaps over 450."
Dr. Ali - I think you realise there is one crucial difference between the good Dr.Shipman and the Muslim doctors involved in successful and unsuccessful suicide bombings. Dr. Shipman was an irreligious ,educated LONE psychopath - motivated by his own delusions. He was NOT suicidal. The Muslim doctors however, acted in a group setting - for religious reasons - and were intnetn on suicide. Still psychopaths, but the the pathology was the Islamic motivation - which they justified by their understanding of Islam.
The fact that a group of educated individuals can be motivated by a 'religion' to destroy themselves and any number of innocent people - is of course beyond disturbing. Educated individuals with access to cheap yet powerful technologiesare a threat to humanity. In this case 1 + 1 != 2, 1 + 1 = 11.
"....What is the percentage of doctors committing crimes like that "Western educated Muslim doctor suicide bomber" did? What would be percentage? The answer is "very very small"."
right - lies, damn lies and statistics....... OK, look at it from another more pertinent angle:
What percentage of all suicide bomber terrorist attacks by doctors were by non-Muslim doctors??
The answer is "very very small". - in fact zero I would say.
2) "obviously these people - both in Britain - and Afghanistan/Pakistan* are educated sufficiently well to construct electronic timers and detonators. Again, education gives no guarantees."
Do we consider these people "educated"? It depends on what one calls education. What these people have is technology not education.
Rather than get caught up in semantics - let's first define education. Do you mean by education that someone should have studied more than half a dozen subjects for an extended period of time- or what? Anyone with the ability to design and put together sophisticated electronic timers and detonators from parts has had some form of education in electronics. It is still education
".....About 16 years ago, I had heard of people in remote and under developed areas of Pakistan "manufacturing" or more precisely involved in imitating weapon systems. This, I believe is use of technology but not education. One does not need to be a philosopher to use or copy technology. Even Taliban can use it."
That is correct. It is simple to put together a kit of parts - but the person who designed the kit of parts with the intent to mass produce it to take as many human lives as possible gets the credit for the evil he/she created. The problem is that very powerful technologies are becoming increasingly available to any thug or group of thugs with the money who want to enbforce their viewpoint on the world.
".....Another thing is the least common "common sense". These "educated" people should try to locate common sense and attempt to use it. It might be difficult initally but there have been some successful stories in past. So I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be able to trace common sense."
You are correct again. Unfortunately ideology overcomes comon sense in many of these cases. The ideology needs revision. Hopefully you had a chance to look at the 4 Corners documentary. You have your own conclusions on how retrograde the Talban ideology - o doubt reinforced by seeing what they are doing in the Swat valley. These people have a corrupt ideology - but there is no telling them that - no matter how good a Muslim you are.
3) "Massive awakening. Unfortunately we both know it's not going to happen any time soon. And it probably will only happen after large numbers of people have tried every other course of action and seen its futility.."
Unfortunately, a sad but true story.
At least you are realistic.
