I don't totally disagree with you but my folk have never needed a book to know about G-D. We found, a long time ago, the true word of G-D/Allah written in the blood of our veins and in the marrow of our bones and it is in our quiet meditations that we communicate most directly with our G-D.
The trouble with books is that they can be corrupted by ignorant and greedy men for their own purposes and nothing you can hold in your hand represents the ONE TRUE G-D. We can recognise the Jewish Torah as an expression of the Jewish people and in that sense it has its own legitimacy so we accept it as true. But the Koran is not the expression of any one people so it comes into question in our minds. It is not the story of the Hindus or any other peoples outside of the Arabs and while I can accept it as an Arab story it can never be my story any more than the Torah can be my story except for the small part my own folk played in the history of the jews. For generations my folk have been honored as guests in the Tent of Jacob and we do not forget our host or the hospitality shown to us. No such honor was ever shown to us by Ishmael.
