The following are the words you have used to defend Meccans' against Prophet mUhammad:
The disgusted Meccans only PROTESTED when Muhammad started abusing their religion as reported by his first biographer, Ibn Ishaaq (Page 118-119 of Guillaume's translation of The Life of Muhammad, published by Oxford University press, Pakistan) "When the apostle openly displayed Islam as God ordered him his people did not withdraw or turn against him, so far as I have heard, until he spoke disparagingly of their gods. When he did that they took great offence and resolved to treat him as an enemy…."
"…They said 'O Abu Talib, your nephew has cursed our gods, insulted our religion, mocked our way of life…..'"
The statement above mentioned that Prophet Muhammad abusing the religions of the Mecan. However, he has to know that Prophet Muhammad did not abuse the religion, he shared the truth to the Meccan about Allah and the Last Judgmentl Day. You have to bear in mind that the surrounding pagans worshipped idols in which Allah could not allow. He spoke the truth to the Meccan and even destroyed the idols. His act is righteous since he act in accordance to what the message Allah passed to him. There should not be any excuse for the Meccan not to respect Allah and his followers and that is why I say Prophet Muhammad is righteous to defend the truth of Allah. Why should the Meccan began to have hatred against Prophet Muhammad since he was just doing his duty in sharing what Allah wants for all the people to respect Allah and to believe the Last Judgment Day.
