Nozzi, you write:
>>Fortunately Allah did not choose proud people to be our prophet. Was Muhammad proud?<<
You ask was Muhammad proud. He was the epitome of pride. He said that nobody would have enough faith until they love him more than their fathers and mothers and children.
Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 13: Narrated Abu Huraira: "Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my life is, none of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father and his children."
Volume 1, Book 2, Number 14: Narrated Anas: The Prophet said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind."
Tabakat volume 1 p 27 Ibn Sa'd reports Muhammad saying: "Among all the people of the world God chose the Arabs. From among the Arabs he chose the Kinana. From Kinana he chose the Quraish (the tribe of Muhammad). From the Quraish he chose Bani Hashim (his clan). And from Bani Hashim he chose me
Volume 9, Book 89, Number 251:
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, and whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah, and whoever obeys the ruler I appoint, obeys me, and whoever disobeys him, disobeys me."
