Well, John Wansbrough was able to prove in his studies of the very early Islamic literary sources that Islam is part of the Judeo-Christian tradition.
Once again: The word القران is not an Arabic word because there is no such construct in Arabic. And long ago al-mufasereen, as well as Sheikh al-Azhar today, admit such fact. The correct name would be القراءة
The etymology of the word القران is from Aramaic/Syriac ܩܪܝܢܐ or Qeryana
So what is a ܩܪܝܢܐ? A ܩܪܝܢܐ in Arabic is a كتاب وعظ or "Lectionary."

And this brings us back to John Wansbrough who indeed pointed out that the authors (yes plural) of the Qur'an assume that the reader must be familiar with the Biblical narratives of the OT and NT. Why? Because in the case of the Qur'an the authors were addressing a Christian Syro-Arabic community/communities in late antiquity and in far away Mesopotamia, the Levant and Palestine and the Petra area.
I challenge any Muslim or non Muslim to construct the life of Muhammad by reading the Qur'an only! It is impossible.
More? if you read Surat Maryam 30
إِنِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ آتَانِيَ الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلَنِي نَبِيًّا
This can be rendered as: (The Quanic 'Essa is saying) I am the slave of Allah ('Abd Allah) was given the book (The Quranic NT and OT?) and (Allah) made me a prophet
Notice that Muhammad's last name is supposed to be 'Abd Allah! It makes one wonder that the Christ is really Muhammad 1 (see Luxenberg's "The inscriptions of al-Masjid al-Aqsa")
