Dear Dr Pipes, As many of my messages on your forum indicate, in my opinion the biggest beneficiaries of the worldwide democratic movements are Muslims. If a community ever wanted to eat their cake and have it too, democratic countries with the help of left leaning parties are providing that option to Muslims.
In every democracy that I know, Muslim vote as a single block and every election becomes a single issue election for Muslims. Does anyone still remember that the mayor of London is a Muslim? Need I say anything more? I think this trend will continue worldwide. Secular and nationalistic candidates will find it more and more difficult to garner 50% of the total votes if a Muslim minority is present in the country.
I hope our left leaning politicians start seeing the danger of political Islam. I hope that they also start seeing that political Islam is the only Islam.
Short of that, I think democracy is doomed in all free countries.
All of us must try to imagine what will the world look like if the European countries, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America, all become Christian theocracies, and India and South Asian countries become Hindu Buddhists theocracies. Such a world will not look very pretty to the leftist politicians. It will look outright ugly to Muslims. But, when it comes to Islam, we are allowing Muslims to have such a world.
There is still not too late. Our first battle must be against the left leaning politician who create the rich vs poor division in a society. Muslims enjoy and exploit this division. For our own survival, our second battle must be against things like racism, casteism, and the other forms of discrimination. Muslims love and exploit those divisions too. Our third and real battle must be against Islamic ignorance. People must learn Arabic and other Islamic languages and translate almost anything into the those languages. These translations must be broadcast into Islamic societies in native languages. This is going to be a slow and expensive process. But we must do it. We need to convince Muslims that Islam is not the biggest issue. It is also not the only issue.
If not, then democracy is at risk in all countries.
