Non-Muslims think badly of Muslim teachings not just because of the horrors perpetrated by Muslims all over the world but because the Koran contains material which encourages believers to commit atrocities with a clean conscience:
Qur'an:4:77 "Have you not seen those to whom it was said: Withhold from fighting, perform the prayer and pay the zakat. But when orders for fighting were issued, a party of them feared men as they ought to have feared Allah. They say: 'Our Lord, why have You ordained fighting for us, why have You made war compulsory?'"
This verse clearly shows that even Muslims who wanted to avoid war were told that was compulsory.
009.038 YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter.
Here Allah is discouraging Muslims from sticking to earth as He wants to give Muslims a better life after they die (and as martyrs you go straight to paradise without having to suffer the punishment of the grave while waiting for judgment day.)
>>For Quran 2:44, "Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study".<<
Right conduct? Can fighting compulsory wars and a desire to be rid of this earthly life by jihad be considered right conduct?
>>Quran 2:112, "...whoever submits His whole self to Allah and is a doer of good, - He will get his reward". The phrase, a doer of good, in Quran 2:112 demands us not only to commit our lives to Allah, but it also demands us to be a good doer instead of behaving as those disobedient Muslims whose minds' thinking only to stir up war in the world.<<
Allah has given Muslims an iron-clad guarantee of paradise in this verse:
009.111 YUSUFALI: Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.
Fighting in Allah's cause of spreading Islam is doing good. The Muslims who go around the world killing kaffirs without compunction know that they are doing good by trying to enforce Islam on the world as Allah had told his prophet
009.033 YUSUFALI: It is He Who hath sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth, to proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it).
>>They are the shame to their Muslim companions.<<
They may be a shame to their companions but they are a credit to the religion of Allah (i.e. Muhammad). Muhammad demanded that people around him fight and die in Allah's (i.e Muhammad's) cause:
009.120 YUSUFALI: It was not fitting for the people of Medina and the Bedouin Arabs of the neighbourhood, to refuse to follow Allah's Messenger, nor to prefer their own lives to his: because nothing could they suffer or do, but was reckoned to their credit as a deed of righteousness,- ……;- [SACRIFICE YOURSELF FOR THE PROPHET]
The prophet also encouraged people to be martyrs in his cause:
Sahi Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, Number 53:
Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah's Cause)."
Bukhari:V4B53N386 "Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah alone or pay us the Jizyah tribute tax in submission. Our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says: 'Whoever amongst us is killed as a martyr shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever survives shall become your master.'"
