Middle East Issues Influenced by Hebrew Scriptures:
Thank you, and welcome, Prashant;
In deference to Dr. Pipes' proprietary intentions and objectives in having this forum operate as an objective platform for discussing those issues, as is stated in his request for civility: [Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate (in the tone of courtesy)]; this observer desires to respect and protect Dr. Pipes' intentions by indicating what is opined by this observer and that what is presented here is not for the purposes of proselytizing or imposing self-held beliefs, but to inform here where those beliefs are originated and are solely this reader's alone. That being said, see the following as an advisory response.
The basis of all Christian (Messianic) sources of Scripture is the Torah, Nevi'im and Kethuvim; this is augmented by the post-sacrificial narrative of the Apostles in the Gospel writings and the Acts of the missionary witnesses of the disciples and Apostles, those writings having been made part of the historical evidence of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of the Savior, the Holy One of Israel, as is written in both testaments. The original languages notwithstanding, the copies (like the Hebrew in Israel and those preserved in Aramaic/Syriac/Coptic (et al)) have been preserved in modern formats we see today. This observer has a Tanach in both Hebrew and English, readily accessible on-line, if one is not inclined to acquire one in paper from.
But the cautionary tale, while having had these resources for decades, this observer still considers this discipleship one in constant learning, now amplified by the comparative analysis of contravening writings like that found here in the influences of the Quran held by Muslims and Islamists. That the adherents of Islam continue to argue that the Quran has replacement components to diffuse the teachings of the Hebrew Holy Scriptures, they have found over the centuries that Israel, the main component of the historical Middle East (even Iran has been affected by Israel), is still guided and compelled to observe the scriptural destiny. The Hebrew Holy Writ is unique and alone in this observation.
